The demand for gmax testing has spiked recently with increasing focus placed on player injuries and concussions. Gmax & HIC should be carried out to ensure surfaces are performing to ASTM F1936 standards. ASTM require no surface to have any of the 10 testing locations to have a higher gmax rating than 200g’s. Any surface with a rating of 200g’s would be deemed unsafe for use as it returns excessive impact to the user. This would increase the risk of injury or concussion to an unacceptable level.
