Gmax testing has become universally recognised as a fundamental test to measure player safety on artificial turf. Surface Performance offer gmax testing in Woodland, Caifornia, to ensure all pitches meet ASTM F355 standards.

The Gmax of a field is calculated by dropping the missile in 10 different locations across the field. It is dropped 3 times per location and an average is calculated using the final two drops. Results lower than 200g’s indicate a surface is fit for use, and the surface is within the recommended compaction range.

Gmax testing is recommended to be carried out on an annual basis to ensure surface and player safety is closely monitored.
