These standards stipulate that the Gmax results of a playing surface should not be more than 200g’s. The higher the result, the lower the shock attenuation of the sports surface. This means that players will sustain more force upon impact, increasing the likelihood of injury/concussions. Gmax testing is specifically designed to measure the impact to a player’s torso. The HIC test is the generally recognised test for head injuries.
