+Gmax testing in Jacksonville, Arkansas to measure shock attenuation of artificial playing surfaces

Surface Performance have accredited engineers based in Jacksonville, Arkansas to carry out Gmax testing to ASTM F1936.

Gmax testing, or impact attenuation, measures the shock absorbed by the synthetic turf when impacted by a players torso or head. Surface Performance use a specialist, calibrated F355 A-Missile, no field should have a gmax rating of over 200g’s.

Numerous factors contribute to the Gmax rating on a playing surface. These factors can change quickly resulting in an unsafe playing surface. It is therefore recommended to carry out Gmax testing at least once per year.
