Gmax testing is designed to ensure artificial pitches in Vellejo, California are performing to a high standard in respect to impact attenuation/shock absorption.

Gmax testing measures the shock absorption of the playing surface. The harder the surface, the higher the gmax values. ASTM requires that all synthetic surfaces must have no results with a higher gmax rating of 200g’s. If this requirement is not met then the surface is deemed unfit for use and remediation would be required to make the surface safe.
