Surface Performance Ltd are a FIFA accredited laboratory and provide Gmax safety testing through Troy, Alabama for all types of artificial playing surfaces.

Gmax testing is carried out in order to ascertain if fields in Troy are within the safety requirements of ASTM F355 and ASTM F1936. These standards stipulate that any Gmax results higher than 200g’s are unsafe for use. This is because the shock absorption of the surface is to too low, and therefore players face greater risk of injury as they sustain more force on impact.

Gmax testing is recognised through the USA and should be carried out annually in order to monitor the safety of surfaces.
