Surface Performance, to carry out Gmax testing, use the A-missile – a 20lb, cylindrical weight dropped from 24inches. The integrated accelerometer measures the g-forces exerted on the missile upon impact. This shows the impact attenuation of the surface and the amount of force transferred back to the athlete upon impact. A surface must have a gmax rating of below 200g’s to be safe for use.
