Impact testing, more commonly reffered to as Gmax testing, measure the shock attenuation of sports surfaces. This test can be carried out on both artificial and natural playing surfaces. Gmax is an imperative test to demonstrate whether your surface is fit for use and safe for players. If a surface absorbs little impact, the Gmax will be high. More impact will be returned to the player and when this reaches an unacceptable level, this is because the risk to players is too high.
