Impact Attenuation (GMAX) and HIC testing in Trinidad, Colorado

It is imperative that all artificial playing surfaces are testing to ASTM Standard F1936 to ensure they aren’t posing avoidable risks to the players of incurring injury/concussions.

Gmax and HIC testing focus on the magnitude of impact a player is likely to absorb when colliding with the playing surface, whether that be with their head (HIC), or torso (gmax). If a surface is too hard it may be deemed unsafe for use according to ASTM standard F1936 (+200g’s).

Gmax and HIC tests should be carried out at least once per year to ensure player safety and surface conditions are properly maintained.
