Whilst artificial surfaces have come a long way in the past with the development of advanced materials and infill, it’s impossible to determine how hard a surface is just by walking on it. To ensure your field is not posing a risk of injury/concussion to the users, a Gmax test would be necessary.

The Gmax test measures impact attenuation. ASTM F1936 standards state that no test points on a field should be higher than 200g’s as this would mean a surface is too hard and would pose excessive risk of injury to players.
