Surface Performance carry out Gmax, HIC & Clegg testing throughout the USA including Washington, Georgia. Gmax testing ensures all artificial and natural surfaces are in line with ASTM standard F1936.

Gmax and HIC (Head Impact Criterion) testing focus on the impact absorbed by an athlete upon impact with the playing field. Using a weight and an accelerometer, our specialist equipment will measure the impact absorbed by the surface and therefore the remaining force left for the user to absorb. If this remaining force is too great the risk of injury/concussion would be deemed too high as specified by standard F1936.

Due to the numerous factors that can impact the Gmax rating of a surface it is generally recommended that testing be carried out twice per year.
