Gmax testing in measures both absorption and impact. A 20lb missile is dropped in 10 locations on the field, three drops per location. The missle measures G forces upon impact. The Gmax measure, in other words the force upon impact, is calculated for the surface. Gmax results should be no higher than 200g’s, otherwise the surface is deemed unsafe by ASTM F355 and F1936 standards.
