Gmax and HIC (Head Impact Criterion) testing focus on replicating the impact when a player collides with the surface. A surface must be capable of absorbing sufficient impact as to not pose excessive risk to the players of suffering injury or concussion. ASTM F1936 require all surfaces have no gmax rating of above 200g’s in any of the 10 testing locations.
